Ryder, Sky, and Emmaline are three children who live and work on a vegetable farm with pigs, sheep, goats, cows, chickens, bees, etc. The story is a typical day on the farm, where the kids play, do chores, and invent make-believe adventures. At the end of the day, their faithful dogs shepard each of them home.
Three sets of Adam’s friends all had their first kids within about a year of each other—Emmaline, Sky, and Ryder. Two of these three couples are farmers and he got the idea to write a book about kids on a farm. Unfortunately, the dog Louie died while the illustrations were being done.
The illustrations were done by Cindy Zhi, an illustrator and animator based in Sydney, Australia and living with her birds. She draws inspiration from the environment around her to create a world and bring life to her illustrations. You can find her work at cindyzhi.com.
